Publication Ethics

The publication ethics statement of FAHMA : Jurnal Informatika Komputer, Bisnis dan Manajemen outlines the ethical standards and responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including the journal manager, editors, reviewers, and authors.

This ethical framework is guided by the Regulation of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) No. 5 of 2014 on the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication. It upholds three fundamental principles:

  • Neutrality: free from conflicts of interest in the publication process
  • Fairness: ensuring proper authorship attribution
  • Honesty: avoiding duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P)

Duties and Responsibilities of the Journal Manager

The journal manager is responsible for:

  1. Defining the journal title, scope, scale, and accreditation strategy.
  2. Appointing members of the editorial board.
  3. Establishing clear relationships among the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other stakeholders through formal agreements.
  4. Maintaining confidentiality for authors, editors, reviewers, and contributors.
  5. Ensuring compliance with intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  6. Reviewing and communicating journal policies to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Developing guidelines for editorial conduct and peer review.
  8. Ensuring the regular publication of the journal.
  9. Securing sustainable funding for journal operations.
  10. Building collaboration networks and dissemination strategies.
  11. Managing legal and licensing requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  1. Addressing the needs of both readers and authors.
  2. Continuously improving the quality of journal publications.
  3. Implementing processes to ensure the quality of published manuscripts.
  4. Upholding objectivity and academic freedom.
  5. Maintaining the integrity of authors’ academic records.
  6. Issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary.
  7. Ensuring clarity, consistency, and formatting of manuscripts, while content responsibility remains with the authors.
  8. Actively seeking feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial board members.
  9. Encouraging evaluation and improvement of the journal.
  10. Supporting ethical compliance by requiring ethical clearance where applicable.
  11. Promoting awareness and education on publication ethics.
  12. Evaluating editorial policies and improving them to minimize errors and enhance accountability.
  13. Being open to new perspectives and differing viewpoints.
  14. Avoiding bias and conflicts of interest in editorial decisions.
  15. Encouraging authors to improve their manuscripts to meet publication standards.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are responsible for:

  1. Providing objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of assigned manuscripts.
  2. Declining to review manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.
  3. Maintaining confidentiality of the review process and manuscript content.
  4. Providing constructive feedback, suggestions, and recommendations for improvement.
  5. Reviewing revised manuscripts according to journal standards.
  6. Ensuring that the manuscript meets scientific standards, including methodology, data validity, authorship legitimacy, and conclusions.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors meet authorship criteria.
  2. Taking collective responsibility for the content of the manuscript, including methods, analysis, and results.
  3. Acknowledging all sources of funding and support.
  4. Clearly stating the limitations of the study.
  5. Responding to reviewer comments professionally and in a timely manner.
  6. Informing the editor if they intend to withdraw their manuscript.
  7. Ensuring that the submitted work is original, has not been published elsewhere in any language, and is not under consideration by another journal.
